The Institute of Technology in Sligo offers a wide range of courses in Business, Computing, Design, Engineering, Nursing and Science disciplines. The Institute of Technology, Sligo has recently launched 'Strategic Plan 2002-2007' which has as it its centre the development of a range of life long learning initiatives including Foundation courses, Outreach opportunities and a developing range of part-time programmes. The college has an ambitious development programme and has invested heavily in new facilities. The new halls of residence, which are located within walking distance of the campus, are newly constructed. Students can choose from a vast array of courses at Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree, Honours Degree and Postgraduate levels.
St. Angela’s College, Lough Gill, Sligo

Founded as a Training College for Teachers for Home Economics, St. Angela's has expanded its Education Services far beyond that original remit. Today it provides a range of academic programmes in Education, Food, Textiles, Fashion and Design, Nursing and Economic and Social Studies. The College provides a wide range of full and part time courses at Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Masters level through links with other third level institutions, primarily, NUI Galway.
The Nursing Department, in conjunction with the Schools of Nursing at Sligo General Hospital and Cregg House, have offered the Registration/Diploma in Nursing (General or Mental Handicap). The nursing qualification has now become a University Degree in 2002. From September 2002, a four year Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree in both General and Mental Handicap Nursing is being offered. On completion of the four-year degree programme, the successful candidate will also be entitled to register with An Bord Altranais, the governing body of nursing in Ireland. In 1998, the College offered for the first time, a full time BA in Economics and Social Studies in association with the National University of Ireland, Galway.
In more recent times, the College has strengthened its links to industry with the establishment of a Food Product Development Centre to respond to the needs of food businesses in the Northwest by providing innovative and cost competitive product offerings on a contract basis for its clients.

LYIT offers a wide range of courses in Business, Computing, Design, Engineering, Nursing and Science disciplines. Fermanagh College has been providing quality, Flexible, convenient and affordable vocational and academic education for the people of Fermanagh, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Tyrone, Sligo, Leitrim and beyond, for over 100 years. The College offers approximately 60 Full-Time and 90 Part-Time Further and Higher education courses as well as about 150 recreational courses.

The University of Ulster comprises of four campuses, has in excess of 21,000 students and approximately 3000 staff, making it one of Northern Irelands most influential institutions. The Magee Campus, situated in Derry has approximately 2000 full time students enrolled and offers programmes, in both part and full time capacities, in Informatics, Multimedia, International Business, Software Development, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Policy and Administration, Sociology, Social Work and Community Development, Psychology, Performing Arts, Celtic Studies, Nursing and Law.
The North West Institute of Further and Higher Education (www.nwifhe.ac.uk)
Located in Derry, the North West Institute has in excess of 3,000 full time students and 20,000 involved in part time courses and evening classes. The college works in close collaborations with the University of Ulster and the Queens University in Belfast. Its departments include Business Services, Caring and Social Education, Continuing Education and the Arts and Technology.
